Breast Imaging Center Gets Award

When you spend most of your week working, and just passing by your co-workers on your way to your next task, you may not get to know them as well as you might like.  But, Nassau University Medical Center RN Stanka Petrovic, was determined to build some camaraderie among her colleagues. 

So, a getaway on the weekend of September 15-16 was planned and shared by eighteen women, all either current or retired CSEA Local 830 members, including technologists, clerks and nurses, of the newly commemorated Breast Imaging Center, in the radiology department on the second floor of NUMC.

All met Saturday afternoon, September 15, at the quaint harbor village of Port Jefferson, and enjoyed an evening of merriment at Danfords on the Sound. The group was picked up by Vintage Tours, which provided a personalized and unique glimpse of wine country.  A highlight event was a picnic patio lunch with one final stop at a local farm stand provided an opportunity to sample local desserts.

“I believe that when we enrich our lives, we enrich lives of people around us”, Petrovic said.  “Coming back to work on Monday felt different.  Instead of a stressful place, it felt more like a place where people are united and happy.”

In addition, congratulations to the staff of the Breast Health Center on being selected as the department to receive the 2007 3rd quarter SPOTLIGHT AWARD.
