After months of preparation the CSEA Local 830 finally filmed its commercial with Cablevision on October 26th and 27th, that will act as an image awareness campaign for Nassau County residents. The basic premise of this is to educate everyone on who CSEA is, all the areas that they represent and on how hard all 10,000 members in Nassau County work.
Local 830 represents over 800 different active titles in Nassau County, in 38 different departments. CSEA staff went around with the camera crew from Cablevision and filmed at a variety of different worksites including a Nassau County Crossing Guard post, Nassau University Medical Center, the Department of Social Services Building, Nassau Community College and Eisenhower Park’s Red Course.
The capper to the commercial was the gathering of approximately 100 CSEA members at Eisenhower on the afternoon of Friday October 27th, along with CSEA Local 830 President Jerry Laricchiuta. Laricchiuta’s line was, “Hi, my name is Jerry Laricchiuta and I am proud to be president of CSEA Local 830. We work for our members and our members work for you.” Following that, all 100 CSEA members screamed in unison, “We work for you!” The final task to finish it off was to shoot various departments such as Deputy Sheriff’s, Crossing Guards and Parks as separate groups saying “We work for you!”
The commercial will be airing on News 12 Long Island, and many other cable stations starting in either December or January and should run for at least half a year. There will be different versions of the commercial as there was so much footage filmed as the aim was to include as many members and departments as possible. “Nassau County residents need to know all the departments and titles that we represent. As I have said a number of times, without our members, Nassau County would cease to function,” Laricchiuta proudly said.
Local 830 would like to thank all members who came out to support this endeavor and made this commercial such a success, as well as all the various worksites and officials who went out of their way to help out.
