Social Services Raises $1200 for Heart Disease
The American Heart Association’s nationwide “Go Red for Women” campaign was held on February 1 with many departments participating at 60 Charles Lindbergh Boulevard, home of Nassau County’s Social Services Department.
DSS raised $1200 (up from $500 a year ago) for the American Heart Association by selling raffles for $2 each, and offering prizes such as gift cards to great restaurants such as City Cellar, Houlihan’s, Tin Alley Grill, Moe’s, Borrelli’s, Applebee’s, Panera Bread and Chili’s. 41 prizes were raffled off in total.
“The fundraiser was a huge success. Nearly everyone wore red that day, including the male employees,” Coordinator from DSS Diane Lorenzo said. “We hope to obtain more sponsors for 2009 and exceed our donation from this year.”
Special thanks also goes to Janet McShea and the rest of the Assistant Directors and Supervisors who worked hard selling raffles and raising money. |
