Sheriff’s Support Unit Civilians Honored
LEVITTOWN- The Nassau County Sheriff’s Department held their Awards Ceremony on May 21 and May 28 at Levittown Memorial High School, honoring acts of heroism from 2003-2006. Thirteen CSEA members from the Sheriff’s Support Unit were awarded for their great work in various different areas.
On May 21, Medical Technician Bill Brown received 2 life saving awards, and was noted for taking complete control of a dangerous situation in one situation and providing life support and keeping an inmate alive until he could get to Nassau University Medical Center in another instance. Medical Technician Jeremiah Ahearn received a life saving award as well for performing similar duties.
Joe Fuoco got the Civilian Award for his great dedication of service to the Sheriff’s Department for the past 18 years. Fuoco is a Veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces and a member of the East Meadow Fire Department.
On May 28, 10 more members were awarded. Cook Frank Sciremammano was a recipient of the Commendation Award. Certificates of Recognition were given to Carpenter Jeffrey Adami, Electricians Kenneth Beitter and Raymond Heiseler, Plumbers Michael Clark and George Smidt, Medical Attendant Arthur Hagenbruch, Maintenance Mechanic Edward Melin, Maintenance Supervisor John Stafford and Groundskeeper Thomas Weiss.
CSEA member Frederick McFarland sang the national anthem. McFarland was also in Washington D.C. prior to this ceremony to sing the anthem during Police Memorial Week.
Sheriff’s Support Unit President Kenny Hamel, and Executive VP Kenny Gibbons were both on stage to support their members. |
