Nassau Health Care Corporation employees were honored at the Employee Recognition Dinner at the Chateau Briand on April 30. Those employees celebrating anniversaries of 5, 10, and all the way up to 45 years were awarded. Between all the nights honorees, there’s a combined nearly 10,000 years of service, showing great dedication to the NHCC.
Also in April, the Nassau Suffolk Hospital Council has selected Amy Pakes, RN, nurse manager of the Nassau County Firefighters Burn Center at NUMC, to be the recipient of the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council Nurse of Excellence Award.
Ms. Pakes attended Molloy College for her nursing degree and discovered that she had an interest in taking care of burn patients. She has worked in the burn center at NUMC in some capacity for the past twenty-four years. During her tenure, she has spent countless hours caring for both the critically injured as well as the non-critically injured burn patient of any age. Ms. Pakes currently is the nurse manager for not only NUMC’s burn unit but for the hyperbaric unit and surgical intensive care unit.
Last but not least, Ileana Argueta, a resident of Freeport and an accountant assistant the Nassau Health Care Corporation Community Center School Based program in Roosevelt, was recently honored as the April 2008 NHCC Employee of the Month. She performs a variety of clerical and assisting roles, where her true capabilities shine.
Ms. Argueta works well with the interdisciplinary staff in the school setting and in the community as an outreach liaison. Her interpersonal skills, reliability, flexibility and helpful demeanor promote a positive work environment. She is a true asset and most definitely serves as a positive role model within the Nassau Health Corporation. |
